「あなたがたに言うが、この人が、義と認められて家に帰りました。パリサイ人ではありません。なぜなら、だれでも自分を高くする者は低くされ、自分を低くする者は高くされるからです。」 (ルカによる福音書18:14)
こういうわけで、もしあなたがたが、キリストとともによみがえらされたのなら、上にあるものを求めなさい。そこにはキリストが、神の右に座を占めておられます。あなたがたは、地上のものを思わず、天にあるものを思いなさい。あなたがたはすでに死んでおり、あなたがたのいのちは、キリストとともに、神のうちに隠されてあるからです。(コロサイ人への手紙3:1-3)

イエス様が語ったパリサイ人と取税人の話は、今日の教会において真実でなかったとしたら、ちょっと極端すぎるたとえに見えるかもしれません。あなたが礼拝の中に入っていくとき、あなたの心と思いは上にあるものに対して意識して向けられているでしょうか？あなたは自分自身を称賛していますか、それともへりくだってキリストとの交わりに入っていますか？私たちの心と思いが下にではなく天に向いているとき、とても大きな違いが生まれます。キリストの体にある一致は、私たちが意識して主のために自らを死なせ、キリストとともに神のうちに隠されることを選ぶことによってのみもたらされるのです。キリストがすべてであり、すべてのうちにおられるのです。
I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified
before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles
himself will be exalted. (Luke 18:14)
Since, then, you have been raised with
Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right
hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you
died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:1-3)

Jesus’ parable of the Pharisee and the tax
collector would seem a bit extreme if it were not actually true in the church
today. When walking into a church service is your heart and mind intentionally
set on things above? Do you exalt your own self or enter humbly into the
fellowship of Christ? There is a very big difference when our hearts and minds
are set heavenward and not downward. Unity in the Body of Christ only happens
when we intentionally allow ourselves to die for Him and choose to be hidden
with Christ in God. Christ is all and in all.
